Shortlisting Merchants & Tracking Diamond Details
You are now at the point where you need to determine what type of merchant you will purchase the diamond and ring from.
Let’s recap the choices you have:

The type you choose will be a result of:
a) how much time you have before the proposal (if you already have a date in mind)
b) how much time you are willing to spend researching the diamond
c) how trusting you are
d) how much money you are willing to spend
Short listing Merchants
Once you have decided the type of merchant that you want to purchase your diamond from, you then need to talk with and visit several of them and obtain quotes for the specification of diamond that you want to buy.
From there, you need to create a shortlist of between 2 and 4 merchants who you will then “play-off” against each other in negotiations. So how should you arrive at this shortlist?
